Subaru Loves to Care: Spreading Comfort and Hope in Mentor, Ohio

This summer, Adventure Subaru teamed up with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and The Seidman Cancer Center in Mentor, Ohio, for the 2025 Subaru Loves to Care blanket drop off. Located just a mile away from our showroom on Mentor Ave, the Seidman Cancer Center was the perfect partner to help us bring comfort and support to patients right here in our own neighborhood.

At the event, Adventure Subaru, along with Nikki Johnson from LLS and our own Love Promise Coordinator Dusty Blechman, delivered 80 custom heart‑shaped blankets to patients receiving treatment. While we couldn’t meet with patients directly, knowing these blankets would bring warmth and comfort during such a difficult time made the experience deeply meaningful for our team.

A Decade of Impact
Since 2016, Subaru and our retailers have worked alongside LLS to support nearly 350,000 cancer patients nationwide, delivering blankets, care kits, and messages of hope each June. The 2025 campaign marked the tenth year of this partnership, continuing a tradition of compassion and care for patients and families facing blood cancer.
LLS’s mission remains steadfast: to cure blood cancer and improve the quality of life for patients and their families. Their bold vision is that, by 2040, patients across the country will gain more than one million years of life.

Why It Matters to Our Community
Every three minutes, someone in the U.S. is diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma, or myeloma. Recovery can be long and isolating, which is why acts of kindness - like delivering a warm blanket - means so much.
Partnering with Seidman Cancer Center allowed us to connect directly with neighbors who are in the midst of treatment. It’s part of our larger commitment to giving back to Lake County, whether it’s through health focused partnerships, local events, or other community initiatives.
Looking Ahead - Big News from LLS
There’s exciting news on the horizon. This September, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society will be changing its name to Blood Cancer United. While the name and look will be new, their mission will remain the same - caring for anyone affected by the more than 100 types of blood cancer, and continuing their commitment to programs like Subaru Loves to Care.
We look forward to continuing this meaningful work under their new name and finding even more ways to bring comfort, hope, and connection to our community.
