Adventure Subaru and Project Hope for the Homeless: Five Years of Warmth and Community

It’s another cold, snowy day this winter as we carefully load up our Crosstrek with boxes of brand-new coats. The air is brisk, and the snow crunches underfoot—a reminder of just how vital warmth is during this season. We set off for Project Hope for the Homeless, a place where kindness and care are extended to those in need. This delivery, part of the Subaru Loves to Help initiative, is more than just an event—it’s a chance to make a real difference in our community.

For the past five years, Adventure Subaru has partnered with Project Hope for the Homeless, Lake County’s only emergency shelter. This year, we’re delivering 120 brand-new coats to children and families who are experiencing homelessness or other urgent needs. These aren’t just coats—they’re symbols of care, hope, and support during challenging times.

When we arrive at Project Hope for the Homeless, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming, despite the cold outside. It’s a place that’s changed nearly 10,000 lives since 1993, offering not just shelter, but also a pathway toward stability and renewal. We’re humbled to play a small role in this mission, knowing that each coat we bring represents a meaningful gift to someone in need.

About Subaru Loves to Help

The Subaru Loves to Help initiative is part of the Subaru Love Promise, a commitment to being more than just a car company. It’s about making a positive impact in the communities we call home. By partnering with organizations like Operation Warm, Subaru and its retailers aim to provide essential items that not only meet immediate needs but also bring dignity and hope to individuals and families.

About Operation Warm

Operation Warm is a national nonprofit with a simple yet profound mission: to provide warmth, confidence, and hope to children in need. They manufacture high-quality coats and shoes, designed to provide more than just physical warmth—they deliver emotional warmth and the confidence to thrive. Since its founding, Operation Warm has served more than 6 million children in over 4,000 communities, helping them access the resources they need to succeed.

A Sense of Purpose

These moments give us a deep sense of purpose, reminding us why we do what we do. At Adventure Subaru, we’re here to give back, to show up for our community, and to lend support to those who need it most. The Subaru Loves to Help initiative is not about recognition or accolades—it’s about being present and making a difference, one small act of kindness at a time.

Supporting the Mission of Project Hope for the Homeless

Project Hope for the Homeless relies on community contributions to provide shelter, care, and resources to their guests. If you’d like to support their efforts, donations can be brought directly to their location at 25 Freedom Road in Painesville Township, Ohio.

Can’t make it there? We’re happy to help. Adventure Subaru, located at 1991 Mentor Ave, Painesville, serves as a drop-off site for donations outside of Project Hope for the Homeless' office hours.

For a list of their most-needed items, check out their Current Needs List or shop directly from their Amazon Wish List, where you can have items delivered straight to the shelter.

Looking Ahead

As this year’s event concludes, we’re reminded that true change comes from working together as a community. Each coat handed out is more than just fabric—it’s a source of hope, a sign that someone cares.

Adventure Subaru is honored to continue this partnership with Project Hope for the Homeless and to participate in the Subaru Loves to Help initiative. Together, we’re not only helping individuals stay warm—we’re helping them feel seen, valued, and supported.
