The 2026 Ascent is the three-row Subaru SUV, designed around the realities of family life. It seats seven or eight, depending on the configuration, comes with Full-Time all-wheel drive (AWD) standard on every trim, and delivers the kind of cargo flexibility that weekend hockey tournaments and summer camping trips demand. The 2.4-liter turbocharged engine produces 260 horsepower, and it's paired with a CVT transmission featuring X-MODE with Hill Descent Control for confidence on slippery roads.

What's new for 2026

The 2026 model year brings only modest changes to the Ascent lineup. Instead of the two Onyx Edition trims in 2025, the Onyx Edition Touring is the only one that continues. The base Premium trim now has water-resistant synthetic upholstery and black exterior trim, and the Touring trim now has wood interior accents. A new Sapphire Blue Pearl exterior paint takes the place of Cosmic Blue Pearl.
