One local mechanic is receiving a prestigious honor today in record time.

Tom Justice, who works at Adventure Subaru in Painesville, has reached Master Technician status and he's just in his 20s.

Tom was also one of the first people to attend the Matrix Trade Institute boot camps, which his co-workers say played a huge role in giving him the confidence, the skills, the efficiency required to become a Master Technician.

He says the experience helped him fall in love with the industry.

"It's developed from washing cars, to changing oil, to wanting to learn the brand as best as I could, and be the best technician I can be. They were willing to send me down to Columbus with one of their cars and just drive down there, gain some experience, and make some money doing it. Turns out I love it."

Wow, congratulations! That's just great. Adventure Subaru says two-thirds of the men and women who go to school for this trade are no longer in the industry after 11 months, creating a retention problem. The dealership though hopes to invest in other young service technicians like him in the future.
