About Footprints Center for Autism
Footprints Center for Autism (FCA) is a beacon of hope and support in the Northeast Ohio region. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, our unwavering mission is to offer comprehensive, collaborative, and child-centered programming for individuals with autism in a nurturing and unrestricted learning environment. Our goal is simple yet profound: to empower each child to reach their highest potential and excel in all life aspects.
Founded in August 2017 by Erin Bolyard, Nicole Best, and Claire Caldarea, FCA is the culmination of a shared vision by three native Northeast Ohioans. Each founder brings a wealth of experience, with a minimum of seven years in the fields of autism, nonprofit, and business management. Our location was chosen with purpose, aiming to serve communities and counties where resources for children with autism and their families are scarce.
Since opening our doors in September 2018, we have witnessed remarkable growth. From our initial four students, enrollment soared to 10 by the end of the 2018-2019 school year and reached 23 by the close of the 2019-2020 school year. This growth is a testament to our commitment and the trust placed in us by the families we serve.
At FCA, we understand that autism is a spectrum disorder, requiring individualized treatment and curriculum. Each child's program is uniquely crafted by a dedicated team of teachers, therapists, and parents to meet their specific needs and maximize their success. Our approach is deeply rooted in our mission statement, emphasizing collaboration, comprehensiveness, and child-centeredness.
Family involvement is pivotal to our approach. We encourage regular collaboration with families and caregivers to ensure consistency across all settings. As an ODE Autism Scholarship Provider and a Jon Peterson Special Needs Scholarship Provider, we are committed to making our services accessible and impactful.
Our Mission
To provide comprehensive, collaborative, and child-centered programming for individuals with autism in a positive and non-restrictive learning environment so that each child can reach their highest potential and achieve excellence in all aspects of life.
Our Three Pillars
- Comprehensive Approach: We believe in treating the whole child, incorporating sensory integration, collaborative therapies, and research-based interventions tailored to each individual and their family.
- Collaborative Approach: We bridge the gap between home and school, fostering collaboration between parents/guardians and teachers/therapists. Our goal is to support the child in all life aspects through seminars, observations, and family meetings.
- Child-Centered Approach: Recognizing each child's unique abilities, we design programs that focus on their strengths and meet their individual needs. Our approach combines play and creative exploration with personalized instruction.
Our Vision
Footprints Center for Autism envisions a world where all individuals with autism have the resources to reach their fullest potential in all settings. We aim to bridge the gaps in intervention consistency between school, home, and the community by providing individualized therapy for the child and collaborative training opportunities for their families and caregivers.
