Footprints Center for Autism

About Us

Footprints Center for Autism (FCA) is a Northeast Ohio based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is dedicated to our mission of providing comprehensive, collaborative, and child-centered programming for individuals with autism in a positive and non-restrictive learning environment so that each child can reach their highest potential and achieve excellence in all aspects of life. FCA was founded by Erin Bolyard, Nicole Best, and Claire Caldarea in August 2017. All three founders are native to the northeastern Ohio region and all have a minimum of 7 years working in the fields of autism, nonprofit and business management, or both. The geographic location of FCA was strategically determined by the founding team, in hopes of providing services in communities and counties that have limited resources for children with autism and their families.

Footprints Center for Autism opened its doors to its first four students in September of 2018. By the end of the 2018-2019 school year, enrollment had increased to 10 students. By the end of the 2019-2020 school year, enrollment had increased to 23 students!

Footprints Center for Autism recognizes that, because autism is a spectrum disorder, the most effective treatment and curriculum must be individualized to the needs of the child. Each child that attends Footprints will have a unique program built by a team of teachers, therapists, and parents that is specifically designed to meet their needs and maximize their opportunity for success. This collaborative, comprehensive, and child-centered approach to building each program is written right into the organization's mission statement. Footprints also recognizes the vital importance of family involvement, and encourages frequent collaboration with families and caretakers to ensure consistency of intervention across all settings.

Footprints Center for Autism is an ODE Autism Scholarship Provider and a Jon Peterson Special Needs Scholarship Provider.
Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide comprehensive, collaborative, and child-centered programming for individuals with autism in a positive and non-restrictive learning environment so that each child can reach their highest potential and achieve excellence in all aspects of life.

Comprehensive Approach
Footprints Center for Autism recognizes that learning goes beyond academics. We believe in treating the whole child through the use of sensory integration, collaborative therapies and teaching methods, and research based behavioral and neurological interventions that are created to fit each individual child and their family.

Collaborative Approach
Footprints Center for Autism recognizes that learning goes beyond the classroom. We believe in the potency and effectiveness of bridging the gap between home and school, parents/guardians and teachers/therapists. We offer and encourage many collaborative opportunities, such as seminars, observations, family meetings, etc. We believe that the best way to treat the whole child is to provide support in all aspects of his/her world.

Child-Centered Approach
Footprints Center for Autism understands that each child is unique and has his or her own abilities to succeed in everyday life. With this understanding, we design a program that focuses on the strengths of each child and meets their individual needs. This is done by providing opportunities for play and creative exploration along with individualized instruction that is centered around each student.

Our Vision
Footprints Center for Autism envisions a world where all people with autism have the resources to live up to his or her fullest potential across all settings. There are many gaps in the consistency of intervention between school, home, and the community. Footprints Center for Autism intends to help bridge those gaps by providing individualized therapy for the child and collaborative training opportunities for their families and caretakers.
